Jamaican Curry Goat
Ingredients
- 2 lbs goat meat, cut into chunks
- 3 tbsp Jamaican curry powder
- 1 chopped onion
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 chopped scotch bonnet pepper
- 2 diced potatoes
- 1 can of coconut milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Neutral oil for cooking
Instructions
- Season goat meat with curry powder, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for at least an hour.
- Heat oil in a pot, sauté onions and garlic until soft.
- Add goat meat, brown on all sides.
- Add Scotch bonnet pepper and enough water to cover the meat. Simmer for 1.5 hours.
- Add potatoes and coconut milk, cook until potatoes are tender and meat is tender, about 30 more minutes.
Additional notes
Jamaican curry goat is separate from Indian goat curry so calling it ‘curry goat’ is also the correct way.
